Textile Dye Information

What is Bendizine?

Benzidine is a manufactured chemical that was used to produce dyes for cloth, paper, and leather. It is no longer produced or used commerically in the U.S. The Department of Health and Human Services, the World Health Organization, and the EPA have determined that benzidine is a human carcinogen. Long term occupational exposure to benzidine puts a worker at an increased risk for developing bladder cancer.
