Benzidine Dyes, Bladder Cancer, and Legal Compensation

How to get legal compensation for bladder cancer caused by exposure to benzidine dyes

The evidence shows that dye manufacturers knew long ago their benzidine dyes would injure and kill people by causing bladder cancer. For many years, however, these companies hid this information in order to keep selling their textile dye products. For these reasons, the dye manufacturers are now being held legally liable, and can be made to pay legal compensation to workers and their families when the bladder cancer is found to be caused by benzidine dyes.

The most common method of seeking legal compensation for bladder cancer caused by exposure to this group of textile dyes is filing a lawsuit. If a person is sick with bladder cancer, the person can file a personal injury lawsuit. In the situation where a person with bladder cancer has died, the surviving family may file a wrongful death lawsuit.

There are statutes of limitations that determine the time period within which one may file the lawsuit. In North Carolina a personal injury lawsuit must be filed within three years from the date the bladder cancer is diagnosed, and a wrongful death lawsuit must be filed within two years from the date a person with bladder cancer dies. These statutes of limitations, or deadlines, vary from state to state.

In addition, there may be a workers compensation case which can be filed in connection with the bladder cancer. In North Carolina the workers compensation claim must be filed within two years from the date the bladder cancer is diagnosed or the date of a death involving benzidine dyes. This deadline may be different in another state.

Because of these deadlines, one should not delay in finding a law firm to provide them with legal advice and legal representation when there is a possible claim for legal compensation involving a person who is sick, or has died, with bladder cancer due to benzidine dyes.
